Brett A. Baer

Brett A. Baer is a real estate and securities litigation attorney in the Real Estate Law Department. With academic honors, Mr. Baer earned a Juris Doctor degree and a Masters of Business degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA in 2000. Also from Golden Gate University, Mr. Baer earned a Certificate of Specialization in International Law with academic distinction.

Mr. Baer studied Securities Regulation with esteemed Professor Steven Choi at the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, and thereafter earned a Masters of Law degree in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.

Mr. Baer first began working in the field of law in 1990. As a Paralegal Specialist, Mr. Baer obtained litigation and trial experience with a small law firm in Walnut Creek, CA where he assisted government and creditor interests in legal malpractice, real estate, and foreclosure litigation. In 2004, Mr. Baer served as an intern to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, where he assisted federal financial fraud investigations and litigations. From 2005 through 2006, Mr. Baer was a Legal Research Attorney for the Superior Court of the State of California, Santa Clara County. In 2006, Mr. Baer assisted representation of a South American government in an international breach of contract matter. From 2006 through 2008, Mr. Baer assisted representation of a quasi-government entity involved in securities litigation at a global law firm in Washington, DC.

Brett A. Baer is admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of the State of California, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Mr. Baer is active in the American Inns of Court, and is a volunteer through the San Diego County Bar Association.

Mr. Baer has authored two substantive texts, "Caveat Underwriter: Underwriter Liability in Rule 144A Offers," April 2004, and "Economic And Legal Perspectives Of The United States Health Care System: Comparative Public Policy: Application of Competition Theory On Reform," May 2004.
